VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy

Introduction The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy is a substantial qualification that has been designed to prepare you for a career as an aromatherapist. This qualification covers: Knowledge and understanding of complementary therapy concepts Business practice Anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies You will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide aromatherapy services You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to blend essential oils tailor-made for each client and provide relaxing aromatherapy massage treatments using a variety of massage techniques This is a practitioner level qualification. National Occupational Standards (NOS) This qualification is based on the complementary therapy national occupational standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing you for a career as an aromatherapist.   Prerequisites To undertake this qualification, you must also achieve the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies and Sports Massage qualification.  This is an online course with an exam and will be completed prior to starting.  VTCT L3 Aromatherapy is designed for learners aged 16 years and over.   Assessment Throughout this qualification you will produce a portfolio of evidence. This will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt.  Your work will be assessed, and quality assured by centre staff. An external quality assurer, appointed by VTCT, will visit our centre to sample and quality-check assessments, the internal quality assurance process and the evidence gathered.   Case studies You must carry out and document evidence for at least 60 treatments consisting of the following: a) Aromatherapy massage (minimum of 36 treatments) – six clients must receive a minimum of six treatments b) Other methods of application (minimum of 9 treatments) – compresses, inhalations, blending of creams/lotions etc.   Observation outcomes You will be observed on three occasions by your assessor to show your competence. Assignments You will complete four assignments to show your knowledge. Exams You will complete two exams. Course delivery The course will be delivered one day a month over six months 10.00am-4.00pm.
